{"id":6441,"date":"2021-03-02T13:27:01","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T18:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/?p=6441"},"modified":"2023-02-04T13:22:53","modified_gmt":"2023-02-04T18:22:53","slug":"which-fat-loss-supplements-will-actually-work-for-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/blog-post\/which-fat-loss-supplements-will-actually-work-for-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Which Fat Loss Supplements Will Actually Work for Me?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">In &nbsp;part one of our readers blogs, <em>&#8220;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/blog-post\/the-one-supplement-i-recommend-to-all-my-clients\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" data-kmt=\"1\" rel=\"noopener\">What fat loss supplements actually work?<\/a><em>&#8220;,&nbsp;<\/em>we received a great questions regarding Omega 3 for fat loss.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>&#8220;I keep hearing about good fats and why I should be taking them. &nbsp;If I took good fats wouldn\u2019t I just become fatter and what are the true benefits? &nbsp;Also, what are Omega 3 fats? &#8221; &#8211;&nbsp;<\/em><em><\/em><em><\/em>Cannon C.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hey Cannon, the question &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/blog-post\/the-one-supplement-i-recommend-to-all-my-clients\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" data-kmt=\"1\" rel=\"noopener\">Which Fat loss supplements actually work? <\/a>&#8220;, is one that I hear regularly. &nbsp;First let\u2019s get an understanding of fats. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fatty acids can be broken down into two main categories: Saturated and Unsaturated. &nbsp;These two can be broken down into sub-categories as well, such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. &nbsp;Fatty acids are made up of the number of carbon atoms and hydrogen molecules they can hold. &nbsp;All fats have a combination of these with one being predominant. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"6494\" width=\"384\" data-init-width=\"686\" height=\"185\" data-init-height=\"331\" title=\"fatty acid\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/fatty-acid.png\" data-width=\"384\" data-height=\"185\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fat is necessary for good health. Deficiencies of the so called \u201cGood Fats\u201d can cause health consequences.&nbsp; Good Fats can be described as Omega 6 or Omega 3. &nbsp; Omega 6 fats are highly consumed in our diet relative to Omega 3.&nbsp; The ratio is up to 20:1 whereas it should be more of a 1:1 ratio.<\/p>\n<p>Here at Sports Specific Training, we like to put our athletes on higher dosages of Omega 3 fats.&nbsp; There are 3 types of Omega 3- ALA (found in flaxseed oil, hemp seed oil and walnuts) Docosahaexaenoic (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic (EPA) which are found in fish and fish oils.&nbsp; ALA is essential but does not convert well so I like to recommend fish oils to our athletes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"6495\" width=\"381\" data-init-width=\"493\" height=\"259\" data-init-height=\"335\" title=\"omega-3-fatty-acids\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/omega-3-fatty-acids.jpg\" data-width=\"381\" data-height=\"259\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Our brains are made up of 60% fat.&nbsp; DHA is one of the most important fats for the brain and it is sometimes called \u201cbrain food\u201d.&nbsp; All omega 3 fats also help with the anti-inflammatory process of the body as well.&nbsp; As well, a higher intake of Omega 3 leads to fat loss.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When losing fat is your priority this is usually the first supplement I add to our athletes\u2019 diets when they come into the Sports Specific Training Centre.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fish Oil can have benefits for the body with the following medical problems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Cancer<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Arthritis<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Stroke<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Colitis<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Chronic fatigue syndrome<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As mentioned I prefer a high dose of fish oils for my athletes depending upon their body fat levels \u2013 from 9-15 grams per day!&nbsp; I like to use reputable companies that use higher grade fish oil such as Metagenics, Genestra, Organika, and Life Extension.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"6496\" width=\"267\" data-init-width=\"450\" height=\"267\" data-init-height=\"450\" title=\"6374f2ebc2a298a524e514731a6164e3_cc73da85-ed2a-4227-b59a-dfc78dae68bb_450x450\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/6374f2ebc2a298a524e514731a6164e3_cc73da85-ed2a-4227-b59a-dfc78dae68bb_450x450.png\" data-width=\"267\" data-height=\"267\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I instruct my athletes to take their fish oils with every meal. &nbsp;A good trick to help avoid burping up fish a taste is to keep them in your freezer. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cannon, I hope this helps you understand Which Fat loss supplements actually work.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Good luck with your training and nutrition!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/blog-post\/10-super-foods-super-guidelines\/attachment\/superfoods-cover-1\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"7336\" width=\"521\" data-init-width=\"1410\" height=\"2250\" data-init-height=\"2250\" title=\"superfoods-cover-1\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sst.training\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/superfoods-cover-1.jpg\" data-link-wrap=\"true\" data-width=\"521\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Talking about good healthy nutrition&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Get your own copy of our &#8220;Super Foods&#8221; eBook full of information, tips and tricks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sstcanada.activehosted.com\/f\/13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download Your Copy Here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you confused as to which supplements actually work for fat loss?
